On February 22, 2025, the BRICS+ Winter Sports and Culture Festival took place in Moscow on the territory of Khodynskoye Pole Park, a large—scale international event that united sports, culture and friendship of peoples.
The festival has become a vibrant platform for dialogue between the BRICS countries, popularization of winter sports and strengthening cultural ties. On this day, the guests — diplomats, representatives of international organizations, students, athletes and residents of Moscow — took part in a rich program, plunging into the atmosphere of unity, friendship and active recreation.
The festival opened with an official ceremony attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions of the BRICS+ countries and the African continent, distinguished guests and international experts. Welcoming remarks at the opening of the festival were made by Sergey Cheryomin, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of Moscow; Sergey Ladochkin, Member of the Moscow Public Chamber, President of the Association with NGOs; Inessa Puchenkova, Member of the Public Chamber, President of the Leader Charitable Foundation for Culture and Sports.
The event was also attended by the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea and Burundi. In addition, official representatives of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, the Central African Republic and Sierra Leone took part in the festival, expressing support for the festival and emphasizing its importance for international cooperation. In their speeches, they stressed the importance of developing humanitarian cooperation, public diplomacy and joint initiatives in the field of sports and culture.
The festival has become a living platform for cultural exchange. The guests were able not only to see performances by folklore and musical groups, but also to take part in interactive master classes, immersing themselves in the traditions and creativity of different peoples.
One of the most exciting events was an interactive quiz quest about the BRICS countries, which allowed participants to test their knowledge and learn interesting facts about the culture, history and achievements of the participating states.
